Hot Asphalt Built-up Roof System
Features
Asphalt-based membrane roofing systems have been used in North America for approximately 150 years, longer than any other roofing materials except wood, slate and metal.
- Multiple plies of felts increase the strength and critical mass of the built-up roof system.
- Offers you the option of using higher or lower melting points of hot asphalt depending on the application and roof slope.
- Allows you to use different types of felts, organic or glass fiber. Also allows you to use organic or modified Bitumen base flashings.
Advantages for using the Hot Asphalt Built-up System
Built-up roofing (BUR) systems make use of multiple plies of reinforcing felts laid shingle-fashion into continuous moppings of hot asphalt.
- The systems may be covered with either aggregate set in an asphalt flood coat or surface coating without aggregate.
- Roof systems without aggregate may allow you the option of adding additional plies of hot asphalt and felt in the future to add to the longevity of the original built-up membrane system.
- Applying four continuous plies of felt set in hot asphalt allows the entire roof system to fuse together to become one.
- Typical life expectancy is approximately 20 years.
Hot Asphalt Built-up System Warranty
Industry standard would dictate that a two year workmanship warranty be issued by Rauth Roofing.
An extended manufacturers warranty may be available depending on product selection and application.
